The Mosaic Art School of Sydney (MASS) was founded in 2009 by Nola Diamantopoulos, an exhibiting artist and educator in the arts since 1998. Together with a team of mosaic artists and educators, MASS is proud to announce the launch of the very first of a series of mosaic art classes in March 2011.
MASS is affiliated with the Chicago Mosaic School and together have created a teacher exchange program. This means that our students are exposed to a variety of amazing art teachers from around Australia and the world who are both experienced educators and practicing artists. A student exchange program is currently being developed too.
The courses have been designed for students of all ages and working at all levels, for professional artists, designers, architects, for beginners and enthusiasts.
The MASSter Class is a one year course that is run over 2 semesters. MASS is currently applying for accreditation for this course. The challenge is that this is the first course of its kind in Australia which will result in benchmarking other mosaic courses seeking accreditation in the future. This may take up to two years. You will find detailed outlines of course outcomes on the Courses and Workshops page.
In addition to these courses, MASS is offering a variety of workshops that are held over a weekend (2 full days) or in the evenings over 6 weeks. These workshops are faciltiated by the teachers of MASS as well as visiting mosaic artists from around Australia and the world. This is an exciting aspect of the school.
The short courses (weekend and weeknight) are non assessment based. However students of these workshops will recieve a Certificate of Attendance and maybe eligible to receive a credit if they wished to convert to the long term courses.
MASS is the first art school in Australia that is dedicated to the creative development of the mosaic artist & enthusiast. Enjoy the website - there are videos and audios to enjoy, free learning resources and more. Every week we upload something new. Come and join in the fun.
